instagrammer to follow: mollyjacques

Molly Jacques is a super talented illustrator and calligrapher. Her designs are AMAH-zing. Some of her clients are Martha Stewart Weddings, Bon Appétit, West Elm, and Tiffany & Co. to name a few.
I'm so jealous by her talent.

I encourage you to follow her on instagram. And if you are not on instagram yet, what are you waiting for?

current obsession: anything gold

Shop these items: 1. Damsel Studs 2. Make It Happen Print, 3. iPhone 5S Gold, 4. Confetti Paper Placemats, 5. Cabana Stripe Notebook, 6. Renegade Cluster Bracelet

I don't know about you, but I have been seeing gold EVERYWHERE lately. And it's really making me want to incorporate it on everything I am working on lately. Wedding invitations, stationery, art prints and even on this year's Christmas tree ornaments.

latest crush: rifle paper company

Today, I wanted to share with you guys a company that I am in love with: Rifle Paper Company. They are a stationery and gift brand based in Winter Park, Florida that was founded in 2009 by a husband and wife team. How cool is that? (Maybe I should start brainstorming with the husband about some business ideas.)

I like a lot of things from this brand. One of them is that when you look at any of their pieces, you know without a question that it is from them. The unique factor is high and that is something that I am hoping to accomplish with Designs by Dylcia. Baby steps people.

Another thing I am really digging is how it all began. After reading an EveryGirl interview with Anna Bond (the wife), I found out that it all began when she started designing wedding invitations. Apparently a lot of blogs started featuring her designs so they decided to create a stationery line and launch Rifle Paper Co. a year later.

Creating an unique brand like this one day would be a dream come true for me. So I am using Rifle Paper Co. as inspiration and a reminder that it can be done. No matter how small you start because you have to start somewhere, right?

pinners to follow: jennifer pace

Hi my name is Dylcia and I have a pinning addiction. I have 61 boards and over 5,800 pins. I can't remember how life was before Pinterest. Ok. Ok. A little over dramatic, but if you are obsessed with Pinterest like I am, you totally understand what I am talking about.

I am not going to lie. Pinterest wasn't love at first sight. It was a relationship that progressed as time went on. I think the reason was that when I started using Pinterest not that many people were using it yet, so the variety of things that you could re-pin was not like it is now. It got boring pretty quickly. But now? Hours can go by and all I have done is pin, pin and pin some more. I wasn't kidding when I said I had a problem.

However, I don't consider it a waste of time. It's the opposite. Pinterest provides me with so much inspiration. It has connected me to so many talented people that I would have never "virtually met" otherwise. One of my favorite pinners (is that considered a word now?) is Jennifer Pace.

Jennifer is a graphic designer and I have been following her for a while now. I always find myself repinning a lot of things from her graphic design, branding and interior design boards. So if you have the same Pinterest problem as me, I welcome you to check her out.

Are there any pinners that you always find yourself repinning?

current obsession: hand lettering

First blog post! Wohoo! First, I must confess that writing is not my thing by any means. I am a graphic designer and an art director so I express myself through pictures and design. But this year I have been inspired by so many things that I wanted to start a blog where I can share my latest obsessions as well as what I am currently working on.

When I decided to start this blog I knew off the bat that my first post was going to be about hand lettering. The word obsessed doesn't fully express how I feel about it. This medium has so many possibilities that it makes my mind run wild.

I think what I love about it is that everyone can make it their own. I have been practicing a lot this year and trying to figure out what my distinct style is going to be. But that will come in future posts. Very soon, I promise.

As you will notice in the pictures above, they are all hand lettering. However, they are all very distinct. Old English Company’s style is very casual. Their style is not to be perfect, which totally works. A lot of their lettering is within an illustration. So simple and neat. Then, there is calligraphy. A whole other beast in itself. It looks so effortless. But believe me. That is not the case at all. I started practicing it a couple of months ago and it is definitely a craft that takes a LOT of practice.

There is also the style that is more “free flowing” because there are definitely no rules when it comes to this medium. Everything goes. Want to combine all caps with lower case letters? Go right ahead. Want to include small illustrations between words? Fine by me! Or want to be more classic and romantic? Yes please.

Can’t wait to dive deeper into hand lettering and show you guys what I am working on. Stay tuned.
